"Inspiration by wonderfull book "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley, also all fantasies, faeries, oniric visions, bla bla :P
Is the title fit here? Is it fit to this book?
Well, let's say it is Avalon in present ;)

From my little head-encyclopaedia: ;)
Avalon - the mystic island of incredible creatures like elves, faeries, unicorns, et caetera... The name is walish and it means "the isle of apple-trees" (afal - 'apple', afallen - 'apple-tree'). By walish mythology the rulers of the island were the legendary pair - Avallac and Modron, elves (Modron also appear in the celtic mythology as a goddess; well, maybe the celts have many elvish gods? :aww: hmm... oh yes! In fact they were - Tuatha de Dannan for example ;) Later - called as the Aes Sidhe). This is also the place of last sleep of the legendary king Arthur (the Four Queens had taken him there; you can see many paintings of Arthur and Queens: [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] - by the way, there truly was five of them ;p) Avalon inseparable inosculates with Arthurian kanon (!!!) which inseparable inosculates the celtic mythology (!!!) ;p
Nobody knows where Avalon truly is... There is many theories about - that the Avalon is: Glastonbury, isles Mona (Anglesey), Manau (Man), Bardsey Island - in Britain and - Ile de Sein in Breton. However, historical discoveries shows that Avalon could be some centre of druidic cult. Whole the rest is only fantasy.
Personally, as a witch, I'm closer to the opinion that Avalon was a centre of the ancient cult - but not only of the druids, also of the eldest religion with Mother-Goddess and her cult of priestess ;p
Anyway, here are more things that would show you what Avalon also is:

sir John Gilbert's "Enchanted Forest", 1886 [link]

"The Journey To Avalon"

The Path to the top of the Tor
Is also the spiraled way to the woman within
A journey of growth, empowerment, and self-understanding
A Voyage to the Source, the Center, the Goddess...
She whose Name can only be found in the silence of the soul
Delve into your darkness... enter your pain
Conquer your fears...
Call the Barge to take you
To the Holy Island of healing which resides within...
And emerge renewed
The Mysteries of Avalon are alive
Her Apples are red and sweet...
Do you dare take a bite?
Become the Woman you were born to be...
Remember...
